Water. We know we need it to survive, to stay hydrated and cleanse our bodies, but still many of us don’t drink enough.
But what if you didn’t have access to any clean water? For 1 in 4 people throughout the world, that is the case. That’s 785 million people without access to clean drinking water.
The most basic but most critical gift of daily access to clean water helps families and communities establish better healthcare, agriculture prosperity, economic growth, educational opportunities, and so many other integral aspects of life. Yet millions of people around the globe suffer.
Give Water, Save Millions of Lives
Waterboys, a nonprofit initiative to provide clean water to 1 million people, is committed to building clean water wells in Tanzania and beyond, providing life-giving water that will transform communities for generations to come.
Named for one of the most overlooked but important positions on any team, Waterboys unites professional athletes and fans in support of a single shared cause: providing clean, accessible drinking water to communities in need.
Founded in 2015 by two-time Super Bowl Champion Chris Long, Waterboys brought NFL players together to meet an initial goal of funding 32 borehole wells to represent the 32 NFL teams. This was accomplished in February 2018 and Waterboys has since served 438,000 individuals clean water and inspired the start of similar programs across other leagues and locations.
Through EarthView®, our sustainable hospitality program, Waterboys completed the funding of one well for a community in Tanzania. Together, we plan to complete two more by the end of 2022. Help support a water project this GivingTuesday by giving back through one of the options below:

The Season of Giving
Created in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, GivingTuesday started as a simple idea: a day to encourage people to do good. Since then, it has turned into a global movement that inspires people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Doing good feels good. It may sound cliche, but the do-good-feel-good phenomenon is real and backed by science. Studies have shown that performing good deeds releases endorphins, creating a sensation known as “helper’s high”. Regular acts of kindness have also been proven to decrease stress levels and increase life expectancy.
